Funding opportunities

Funding opportunities through Library's resources

The Library can support your queries on funding through two bibliographic databases, Web of Science and Scopus.  Both databases allow for the identification of trends in research patterns and a quantitative evaluation of research outputs.  Therefore, they can be used to identify many of these metrics, including funding information.

Funding data is available for records entered into Web of Science (WoS) Core Collection since August 2008.  Besides the funding data captured from the records themselves, Web of Science Core Collection contains funding information from various other institutions (such us UKRI (UK Research & Innovation), Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, European Research Council (ERC)).
You can search the Funding Agency and Grant Number field from the Funding Acknowledgment table which displays the funding agency, the grant number, and descriptive funding text. Since May 2021, WoS has enriched this information with funding details captured directly from online grant repositories hosted by funding agencies.

You can also refine search results while you are searching for a Topic.  In the results page, select "Funding Agencies" from the "Refine results" preferences on the left hand side.

As another alternative, while you are doing a Topic search, first select "Analyze results" from the menu above the results.

Then, from the Analysis page, select "Funding Agencies" from the drop down menu.

Results will be refined by funding agencies which have supported the topic of your interest.

Scopus includes many articles with funding information  , offering the ability to users to see all identified funders associated with a given work.  Additionally, the enhancement of the ‘Funding Sponsor’ search result facet now makes it easier to identify research funded by a specific funder. Users can search by top level funding bodies and get results which include publications acknowledging its sub-parts of the organization (i.e. institutes, departments, or divisions of that funder).

From the main search menu, you can select "Funding Information" or any other from the available options.

Alternatively, while performing a keyword search, you can refine your results with selecting "Funding sponsor" from the refine options on the left hand side.

As a third alternative, while on the results page performing a Keyword search, first select "Analyze results".

On the Analysis page select the "Documents by funding sponsor" menu at the very bottom of the screen and see all funding agencies that support research related to your query.
