Discovery Guide

Cite, share, & save results

Discovery allows you to personalize your results within its system by using particular features that help you cite, share and save results.

Using the Cite feature

Discovery has in its system an integrated citation generator to automatically produce citations for the sources it contains. To do so, use the Cite feature  that appears above each source.

Once you click the Cite feature, a pop-up window with several citations appears. To get a citation:

  1. Select one of the citation styles Discovery supports.
  2. Copy, and paste the citation in your bibliography or select Export to RIS, to download a file that can be imported to a free citation manager like Mendeley or Zotero that will help you generate a full bibliography of your sources.
  3. Inspect citations for missing data, indentation or formatting when copying and pasting.

Using the Share feature

Discovery allows you to share search results with yourself and others. To do so, use the Share feature that appears above each source.

Once you click the Share feature, a pop-up window appears. This window includes a stable link for the source which you can either copy to access the source later, providing your ACG Network/Blackboard credentials, or email it to yourself or to other recipients.

Using the Save feature

Discovery offers the option to save a list the sources to review them later. To do so, use the Save feature  that appears above each source.

Once you click the Save feature, a saved item appears. A list of saved items can be useful to:

  1. Review it at a later time. However, the items on the list are temporarily saved unless you sign in with your Network/Blackboard credentials.
  2. Cite the sources that appear on the list simultaneously and then copy, and paste the citations in your bibliography or select Export to RIS, to download a file that can be imported to a free citation manager like Mendeley or Zotero that will help you generate a full bibliography of your sources.
  3. Email them to yourself or other recipients.

Notice that saved items are stored temporarily. Sign in to save these items to a personal list for later reference.
