When conducting academic research, you will often come across opposing ideas and views. Scholars exchange these contrasting views—support, or refute them—in published academic literature or conferences. This way, they take part in a process known as "scholarly conversation" . When you write an academic paper, you are, actually, participating in the scholarly conversation by contributing your own viewpoints, which may or may not coincide with those of other scholars.
